Short version: VYB uses only essential cookies required for authentication and security. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies that follow you across the web.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They help the site remember information about your visit. VYB uses cookies exclusively for the functional operation of the platform — not for advertising or cross-site tracking.

2. Cookies We Use

Authentication Cookie

Essential

Name: sb-auth-token (Supabase session cookie)

Purpose: Keeps you logged in between page visits. Without this cookie the app cannot function.

Duration: Session-length; expires after 7 days of inactivity.

Set by: Supabase Auth (first-party)

Security Cookie

Essential

Purpose: CSRF protection and session integrity. Required to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.

Preference Cookie

Essential

Purpose: Stores UI preferences (e.g., active tab, notification state) so the app behaves consistently between sessions.

4. Cookie Consent

Because we use only strictly essential cookies necessary for the platform to function, we are not required to obtain cookie consent under most jurisdictions (including GDPR Recital 25, which exempts technically necessary cookies). We do not display cookie banners because we have nothing to ask consent for.

If this changes (e.g., we add analytics), we will update this policy and add a consent mechanism before setting any non-essential cookie.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the authentication cookie will prevent you from logging in to VYB. Most browsers allow you to:

View which cookies are set
Delete cookies for specific sites
Block third-party cookies (VYB does not set any)

6. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, VYB uses browser local storage to improve your experience. Specifically, VYB stores:

Your most recent conversation thread — so you can continue adding messages to the same conversation across visits without re-uploading screenshots.
Your last opener session — platform selection and profile notes from your most recent opener generation.
Your last story context — description from your most recent story reply generation.
UI preferences — active tabs, notification state, and other interface settings.

All local storage data stays entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to VYB's servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for findvyb.com.
